Underwood House is an early 19th-century former estate manager’s home, beautifully renovated to combine Cotswold character with modern luxury. Sleeping eight, it offers generous living spaces, vaulted bedrooms and tranquil gardens — a perfect countryside retreat for family or friends.
Built in the early 1800s, Underwood House embodies the quiet grace of the Cotswolds — a stone-built cottage restored to offer comfort, style and space for up to eight guests. The interiors retain period features such as exposed beams and vaulted ceilings while introducing the warmth of underfloor heating and high-speed internet throughout.
On the ground floor, the sitting room is anchored by a wood-burning stove, perfect for relaxed evenings by the fire. Across the hall, the dining room seats eight comfortably and opens through double doors onto the garden terrace. The adjoining kitchen combines classic farmhouse charm with modern functionality, featuring an electric range oven, full-size fridge and freezer, wine fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso machine and all essential cooking staples. A rear hall and ground-floor WC complete this level.
The first floor holds two large bedrooms with exposed beams and high ceilings; one has an en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath and walk-in shower, while the other is served by a generous family bathroom. The top floor offers two further bedrooms, each flexible as either doubles or twins, ideal for families or groups of friends.
All bedrooms are dressed with 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen, feather pillows and down duvets, ensuring restful nights. Bathrooms are stocked with Rituals toiletries, soft Egyptian cotton towels and hair dryers. A welcome hamper of Champagne, smoked salmon and locally sourced produce awaits guests on arrival.
A private terrace sits just beyond the dining room, complete with outdoor table and BBQ for alfresco meals. Beyond lies a large lawn bordered by fruit trees, offering space for picnics, games or quiet moments in the sun. The property enjoys peaceful estate views and direct access to walking trails across the Stancombe Park grounds.
Underwood House stands within Stancombe Park near Dursley, Gloucestershire, a private country estate surrounded by Grade I listed parkland. The nearby towns of Tetbury, Nailsworth and Cirencester provide excellent pubs, markets and shops, while the estate’s own paths and trails invite leisurely walks straight from the door.
