About

Theescombe Hill House is a striking, Scandinavian-influenced home in Amberley, fully renovated to create an airy, modern space that embraces its wide views across the Woodchester Valley. The award-winning vineyard opposite provides a beautiful focal point, and the design of the house — from the glazing to the pool terrace — makes the most of its hillside position. The infinity-style pool is a standout feature, heated to 28˚ for most of the year, with an option to heat it during winter by request. “Winston’s Bar,” named after the owner’s childhood nickname, opens directly to the pool terrace for easy outdoor dining and sunset drinks.

Inside

The house has six bedrooms and five bathrooms in total, with five bedrooms in the main house and one in the Coach House. Interiors feel calm and contemporary, with pale timbers, large windows, and a generous sitting room complete with a well-stocked bar and wood-burning stove. The kitchen is professionally equipped (Wolf, Miele, Sub-Zero, Elica) and flows into an open dining space for ten. A small gym includes free weights, a rowing machine, and a Wattbike.

In the main house, Bedroom 1 has a king bed and en-suite shower room; Bedroom 2 is a super king (which can be set up as a twin) with access to the family bathroom; Bedroom 3 is a double with an en-suite wet room; Bedroom 4 has a king bed and access to the family bathroom; and the top-floor master suite has a super king bed with an en-suite bathroom featuring a separate bath and shower.

The Coach House is fully self-contained and has its own king bedroom with an en-suite shower room, ideal for guests wanting additional privacy or for staff. External CCTV is installed for the protection of the property and its guests.

Outside

The garden is largely lawned and laid out to capture afternoon and evening light, with far-reaching valley views. The infinity-style pool sits at the centre of the outdoor space, with shaded seating areas and an outdoor BBQ for summer cooking. The setting is private and not overlooked, framed by the dramatic contours of the Five Valleys and woodland beyond. The Coach House includes a raised veranda with a “tree-house” feel.
