Underwood House is a beautifully restored 19th-century Cotswold cottage set within the Stancombe Park estate. Formerly the estate manager’s residence, it now combines period character with modern comfort, offering generous living space, four bedrooms and access to private parkland surroundings.
Built in the early 19th century, Underwood House was originally the estate manager’s residence at Stancombe Park. Now comprehensively renovated, it retains its period proportions and architectural character while offering the ease and comfort expected of a contemporary country home.
The ground floor is arranged around three generous reception spaces. A large sitting room with wood-burning stove provides a warm and inviting focal point, while an equally spacious dining room opens through double doors onto the terrace, creating a natural flow between indoors and out.
The fully equipped kitchen is designed for practical self-catering, complemented by underfloor heating and high-speed internet throughout the property. A hallway by the back door and a separate WC complete the ground floor layout.
On the first floor are two substantial bedrooms with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. One features an en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath and large shower, while the second is served by a well-appointed family bathroom. The second floor offers two further bedrooms, each configurable as either doubles or twins, providing flexibility for families or groups.
All bedrooms are dressed with 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen, down duvets, feather pillows and pocket-sprung mattresses. Bathrooms are stocked with Egyptian cotton towels and Rituals toiletries.
The house is set within its own lawned garden with fruit trees, offering space for outdoor relaxation. A terraced area with dining table and barbecue provides an ideal setting for alfresco meals.
Guests are invited to roam the wider Stancombe Park estate, excluding the private gardens of other rented properties and the grounds surrounding the owner’s residence. A range of on-estate activities and experiences can be arranged.
A Stancombe Park Welcome Hamper awaits, including Champagne, smoked salmon and a selection of locally sourced produce.
Underwood House sits within the Stancombe Park estate in Gloucestershire, offering privacy and countryside seclusion while remaining well placed for exploring the wider Cotswolds and its market towns, walking routes and historic landmarks.
