A beautiful Cotswold stone house built around 1640 in the heart of this timeless unspoilt village overlooking the green. in walking distance of the Fox Inn.
Puffets is a beautiful family home designed and furnished by the renowned furniture and wallcoverings designer Tatiana Howard, co founder of Tatiana Tafur, overlooking The Green and in walking distance of The Fox Inn.
The house has five bedrooms – three ‘adult’ and two children’s – and four bathrooms all with a shower. There is a large entrance hall, a generous drawing room, a snug, open plan kitchen dining room, games room and small gym. There is a large terrace with barbecue leading off the dining room and separate boot room and has a large fully enclosed lawned garden. And the house has its own large parking area to the front.
The property has a fascinating history, having been built in 1640 by Thomas Strong, one of Sir Christopher Wren’s master stonemasons who subsequently not only worked on but laid the foundation stone for St Paul’s Cathedral after the great fire of London in 1666. As a result, the property boasts many fine stone features both internally and externally. It is a perfect example of the architecture of its time with a facade built of Ashlar stone with mullioned windows, surmounted by a Stonesfield slate roof, all of which reman to this day. The fireplace in the drawing room is particularly special with the original spice boxes next to it. The House occupies a charming position in the village overlooking the hollowed village green from which much of the stone for building the village was originally quarried
Little Barrington is one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds and only three miles from the classic Cotswold market town of Burford, making that only a country lane hour walk away.
