Goodwood Cottage is a warm and characterful three-bedroom retreat at Bruern in Oxfordshire — originally built for the stable grooms and now a cosy Cotswold escape with a private enclosed garden and access to spa, pool and tennis court.
Goodwood Cottage is one of the renowned Bruern Cottages, set within four acres of award-winning gardens in the Evenlode Valley. Positioned on the right-hand side of the courtyard, it was originally built for the stable grooms and retains a sense of intimacy and charm while offering modern comfort.
At the heart of the cottage is the 19-foot square drawing room and dining space, with windows on three sides and an open fire that creates a warm focal point. The fully equipped kitchen provides everything needed for relaxed self-catering.
Upstairs, the master bedroom features a king-size four-poster bed and en-suite shower room. A twin bedroom and a single bedroom — complete with its own four-poster bed — share the remaining facilities, making the layout ideal for families or small groups.
The private enclosed garden is one of Goodwood’s defining features. A lawn framed by yew hedges is bordered by yellow and cream roses, honeysuckle and lilies, with a romantic arbour providing a quiet spot to sit. Beyond the cottage, guests enjoy shared access to Bruern’s spa, indoor heated swimming pool, gym, tennis court, games room and children’s play areas.
Bruern Cottages are set in Oxfordshire’s Evenlode Valley, surrounded by classic Cotswold countryside. The estate’s landscaped gardens border the river and provide a peaceful rural setting, while nearby villages and market towns offer dining, walks and easy exploration of the wider Cotswolds.
