About
Crucis Park in Gloucestershire – designed by Yiangou Architects – replaces the original family house with a new country house of approximately 10,000 square feet. Constructed from Cotswold ashlar stone and local rubble stone from the the estate’s own quarry it draws on the traditions of local architecture but within the broader context of Queen Anne styling. The house sits in the middle of a large and private estate yet is only an eight minute drive from the Capital of The Cotswolds and historic Roman town, Cirencester.
The design marries both elegant proportions with fine and thoughtful detailing. Although the two main fronts share the same historical form (a square with projecting centre), the variations of the bold broken pediment above the front door, and the engaged colonnade on the other, create distinctive styling which subtly elevates the quality of the house. It is a compact, formal square plan, with a central staircase hall lit by a glazed cupola. Internally the house features marble and stone fireplaces, timber staircases, decorative plasterwork, mahogany bookcases and a painted timber panelled dining room and fireplace.
Events are considered and there is extensive ancillary accommodation available nearby if required.
